"mizuiro ind" will release its first photo book at Tsutaya Books and other stores from Friday, December 1, 2023.
This luxurious book features stylist Yamamoto Mana, who has worked on lookbooks for brands for many years, and has her work with seven creators whom she trusts on a daily basis, expressing a diverse range of worldviews called "mizuiro ind."
This energetic book, with a wide variety of creations, will touch the hearts of viewers and become a source of inspiration for the future.
We asked Yamamoto Mana what kind of thoughts he put into this book, which was completed over the years, and what is important in manufacturing.
"The reason I was inspired to create this photo book was when I received advice from Mizuiro Ind when it marks its 20th anniversary in 2023.
Rather than creating something new, I thought that if we added the perspectives of various creators to the brand, we could create something very special.
Another fundamental reason was that this book wanted the atmosphere of "mizuiro ind" to be conveyed more than the usual lookbook in which a lot of clothes were styled. Something different from a lookbook. I think that what I had thought was so small has gradually become more and more realistic. ”
The 160-page film featured photographers and makeup artists from both Japan and abroad, including Ebisu Yasutomo, Okamoto Mitsuo, Yokonami Osamu, Tanaka Masaya, UDA, Lukasz Wierzbowski, and Kumagai Yuki.
Each of them captures the worldview of "mizuiro ind" from a multifaceted perspective and interprets it into unique expressions. This is a unique book that was only possible because Yamamoto Mana has trust in her relationship.

"Because they work on a regular basis, they trust people and can share ideas without much discussion.
For example, I wanted to include documentary elements in my work with Ebisu Yasutomo, so I freely took the time to travel around Hokkaido's great nature by car. I also wanted to shoot a long story like a movie, so I went to the same filming team in two separate episodes, autumn and winter, and I think I was able to incorporate the exquisite atmosphere that changes with the seasons. In addition to the photo book, Ebisu also took a video. ”

"We asked Okamoto Mitsuo if we could think of "mizuiro ind" as an interesting fashion visual. Instead of the usual look shooting, it's a different fashion approach. "We asked Yokonami Osamu to film a documentary in a different way. We handed her clothes for "mizuiro ind," and asked her to discuss the idea that one of the brand's concepts is "ageless," and that the rest is realistic. So they filmed the actual relatives with three generations of their parents and children. I think it was an interesting story that was typical of Yokonami. ”

"Lukasz Wierzbowski is the only person in this book who works overseas. He has worked in London several times, and I like the balance between his delicate and serious personality and his charming and dreamy photographs. We also photographed works in Japan, Berlin and Poland together. That's why, despite living far away, I trusted him so much, and even before I asked him, I had the idea that this would turn out to be what he would look like. I hope this project will help you feel how "mizuiro ind" will reflect in the scenery of foreign countries. I feel like the volume has changed a little with the addition of one story from someone from overseas. ”

"Kumagaya Yuki was a photographer who knew more about clothes because he had been filming the look of "mizuiro ind" for several seasons. What kind of visual will he draw when he sees his brand from a different angle than before? We proposed Fujimoto Yu, who previously appeared in the look shoot, as the model, and asked what would happen if they were given a free environment to wear "mizuiro ind" clothes. As a result, the result was a beautiful finish with a somewhat serious atmosphere typical of Kumagai. ”
Looking back at the whole thing
"All in the whole thing is that we all created a book together.
Each of them has love for "mizuiro ind" and thinks about how to express themselves.
Perhaps I didn't feel like I was being very consciously standing on the main focus.
That's pretty much the same as usual, and I want to play with everyone on the same level, or rather have a desire to have fun.
The works that everyone enjoyed making will surely be understood by those who pick them up.
I hope that this book will not be a collection of works that compile so far, but will be a book for "mizuiro ind" for the future. ”

Born in Hokkaido, stylist.
